6/29/2023 0 Comments Iron druid graphic novelSometimes these books served as a security blanket or something to hold onto when life pulled the ground under me. The Hollows series by Kim Harrison is a thirteen books long series I turned to when life got a bit hard to deal with. And forget about them I did so much so that even continuing reading the series requires some research into what book did I read last! After some time the reasons for not finishing them all blur into forgetting about them. Here are some book series I started reading and did not finish. There are various reasons for not finishing a book series and while they may include not having the actual book to read to continue the series, it is usually something less straight forward than that… Then there are some book series I have in my possession that I did not finish but for some reason stopped reading somewhere in the last few years or so. And then there are some I just added on my TBR without ever knowing if I will get the chance to read them at all. I have many older (ten on more years from when they were first published) book series I was interested in. I am a big fan of urban fantasy book series.

6/29/2023 0 Comments The breakaways by cathy g johnsonI love that this is a sports book about people who are not very good at it and also are not sure if they want to keep playing the sport. Thank you so much to First Second for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review! The whole book was absolutely precious and lovable, and I know this is one I'll be recommending for a long time to come. There are characters of all sizes and skin colors (including a few fat girls and a hijabi, 2 reps we don't see much of in GNs!), and there's a ton of queer rep-Faith is questioning, a few girls are openly queer, and one character even comes out as trans during the events unfolding. On top of how lovely the story line is and how well it reminds the reader to not judge based on appearances and to give everyone a fair chance, it also has so much rep it's incredible. The team is broken up into a few cliques, and there are some characters who seem to fit certain stereotypes (like the hot girly girls, or the punk band girls, etc.), but we're given tiny windows into their lives to see what makes them the way they are, or the battles they're quietly fighting (like the glimpse into the "mean girl"'s average morning that showcases loud, emotionally neglectful parents). It was so fluffy, and had so many heartwarming moments, and an incredibly diverse cast of characters! It follows this young girl, Faith, who's been convinced to join her school's soccer team by a popular girl she wants to impress. This was one of the cutest middle grade graphic novels ever. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Lullaby chuckOf course, the message appeared in the living room floor. Helen needs the new owner at 325 Crestwood Terrace to shut up a minute. You can't let another agent beat you to the next rainmaker. It's a shoplifter." Murders, suicides, serial killers, accidental overdoses, you can't wait until this stuff is on the front page of the newspaper. Our hero wraps both hands around the mouthpiece and points the telephone receiver at the scanner, saying, "It's a code nineeleven." And her secretary, Mona, shrugs and says, "So?" So she needs to look it up in the codebook. Helen Boyle snaps her fingers until her secretary looks in from the outer office. What she needs is a new cup of coffee and a seven-letter word for "poultry." She needs to hear what's happening on the police scanner. And this new owner on the phone is not what our hero, Helen Hoover Boyle, needs this morning. A couple of nights later, a baby starts to cry from inside the north wall of the master bedroom. Others are sure it's because they didn't tip the movers. Then on the first morning they come downstairs, there it is, scratched in the white-oak floor: GET OUT Some new owners pretend a friend has done it as a joke. They'd measured rooms and told the movers where to set the couch and piano, hauled in everything they owned, and never really stopped to look at the living room floor. Not when the inspector showed them through it. Not the first time they toured the house. Prologue At first, the new owner pretends he never looked at the living room floor. 6/29/2023 0 Comments James albert michener centennialCentennial by James Michener gets many good reviews. There is a bigger, bolder, building menace this time though and one that sets a greater sense of suspence than the previous books have. The dynamics and interaction between the characters is superb and one of the real highlights of the book and the series.Īs with the two previous novels, Night Shift lifts some secrets about some of the Midnight folk, introduce a few new people and generally continue the lives of others. They are fascinating and Harris manages to keep them so by slowly building thier story bit by bit. A cast who include a talking cat, a witch, a vampire and others who clearly aren't entirely (some even remotely) human. Those who frequent the little sleepy town of Midnight are no exception. Her characters are people you want to meet and (mostly) befriend. Harris writes fiction that is comforting, warm and relaxing with a feeling of the familiar. Night Shift continues the story of the rich and rewarding urban fantasy series Midnight Texas by Charlaine Harris. 6/29/2023 0 Comments Assassin's Quest by Robin HobbHer debut series, the Farseer Trilogy, launched her a.
